Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use troiken.com, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What works
- Screen readers. All the content is real text in the page, including each case study, its figures and a written description of its data visualisation.
- Keyboard. Use Tab to reach the slides, the arrow keys to move through them, Enter to open one and Escape to close it. A “Skip to content” link appears on your first Tab press.
- Motion. The site follows your device’s reduce motion setting. The “Pause motion” button at the top of the page stops all automatic movement.
- Zoom. Browser zoom and pinch zoom both work.
- Contrast. Text meets the WCAG AA contrast ratio against its background.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label. Errors are written out in text, linked to the field and announced to screen readers.
- Older devices. If your browser can’t show 3D graphics, you get the same work as plain images.
Known limitations
- The 3D slides are visual. Each one’s question and answer are also in the page as text, and the full answer opens when you select it.
- The motion graphics and photographs are images. Every number they show is also written out in the full answer, and the photographs are decorative.
How we checked
We tested the site with automated checks (axe-core) and by using every view with the keyboard alone. Testing with assistive technology can’t catch everything, so we welcome feedback.
